Rebecca, Izaak, and Cara attended the Isolated Biomolecules and Biomolecular Interactions (IBBI) conference in Timmendorfer Strand, Germany. The conference was held at the Maritim Seehotel, meaning there was plenty of time to explore the beach (and Cara learned that Germany has beaches).
Rebecca gave a talk titled “IM-MS unveils global protein conformations in response to conditions that promote and reverse liquid–liquid phase separation” which discussed using Ion Mobility Mass Spectrometry to investigate the liquid-liquid phase separating protein Ubiquilin-2.
Cara gave a talk titled “Decomplexifying Complexes – Using Native Mass Spectrometry to Investigate PROTAC Ternary Complexes in Cell-Like Environments” and got to share the exciting developments in her targeted protein degrader ternary complex analysis.
Izaak presented a poster titled “An Exploration of Cre Site Specific Recombinases and their Changing Structures upon DNA Binding” detailing his work developing methods to study the site specific recombinase protein Cre, which was a hit at the poster sessions.
The group had time to explore Timmendorfer Strand, Lübeck, and to visit the European Hansemuseum with some old and new friends. These activities were a lovely bonus on top of the week packed with exciting high-quality talks and posters!
Izaak and Cara both received travel grants from the British Mass Spectrometry Society to attend this conference.
